My rustic farm wedding

When my (now) husband and I got engaged and started discussing our upcoming nuptials, one thing became very clear. Both of us had always envisioned our wedding day as very relaxed, casual affair.
We were looking forward to spending this special day with the people that we loved and wanted it to last for as long as possible. From there the decision to have a weekend wedding!
We chose a beautiful farm on the outskirts of Greyton as our venue, mostly due to the fact that it could accommodate the majority of our guests for the entire weekend.
It was an obvious choice for me to do the flowers and decor myself and I decided on a vintage feel to complement the rustic, country surroundings. Wanting to bring across a feeling of nostalgia & authenticity, I used personal items such as the crocheted doilies my grandmother made while she was still with us, as well as candy we used to eat as children.
Everyone pitched in and almost everything was hand-made with love. My mother made the apricot jam we gave to our guests as wedding favours as well as the crocheted napkin rings we used as place markers.
On the Friday evening we had a relaxed braai with the family and friends staying on the farm – a brilliant way for everyone to get to know each other.

On the Saturday morning some of our guests entertained themselves by wandering around the quaint little town that is Greyton. Others opted for a game of touchies or enjoyed the swimming and fishing on the farm.
After a night of laughing, dancing and delicious food, we enjoyed a languid breakfast with some friends and family before jetting off on honeymoon.
I can’t imagine a better way to have celebrated this new and wonderful phase in our lives and relished every single moment of it.
